Former Gurkha soldiers who served in the British Army have won a significant court battle in their long-running fight to settle in the U.K. The Nepalese soldiers challenged British government rules that those who retired before 1997 did not have an automatic right to settle in Britain. Britain has argued that some of those who retired before 1997 have weak links to Britain and must have their cases reviewed individually.
